Heschel West and Kadima form middle school
      Heschel West Day School in Agoura Hills and Kadima Hebrew Academy in West Hills have announced the formation of a joint community middle school. The new school, expected to be named the Kadima Heschel West Middle School, will accommodate about 150 students when it opens in September 2007, officials said.

Agoura High School seeks sponsors for golf tourney
      The Agoura High Baseball Golf Tournament is set for Mon., Jan. 22 at the Tierra Rejada Golf Club in Moorpark. The check-in time is 9:30 a.m. There will be a putting contest at 9:30, the shotgun start at 11:30 a.m., cocktails and music at 4:30 p.m., silent auction, and raffle and dinner at 5:30. There will also be a live auction.

      While I'm a big fan of smaller colleges, many of my students want to attend large universities. It's not hard to understand why students who have spent their high school years in classes with many of the same people would want their college experience to provide lots of social as well as academic choices.

Westlake grads to practice law
      Nathan Bartos and Kathryn Muldoon were admitted to the California State Bar and can practice law in the state. Both are residents of Westlake Village and graduates of Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu. They were sworn in, along with more than 100 other university graduates, on Dec. 1 by Dean Kenneth Starr, a former federal judge.

Honor roll
      Jessica Penn of Oak Park has been named to the dean's list for the 2006 fall term at College of Business at the Providence, R.I., campus of Johnson and Wales University, where she is pursuing an associate degree in equine studies . Students on the list have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.40 or above.
