Esteban and band to grace Canyon
School benefit is Jan. 10

SIX-STRING SKILL—Guitar master Esteban is coming to The Canyon to play a benefit concert for the Lindero Canyon Middle School music program. For 10 years Esteban had lost his ability to play after being hit by a drunk driver, but he climbed back to achieve success in both album and guitar sales.
Guitar virtuoso Esteban and his band will perform in a special concert at 8 p.m. Wed., Jan. 10 at The Canyon club to benefit the Lindero Canyon Middle School music program.

Esteban learned of the opportunity to raise money for the music program through Catie Sayeg, a sixth-grade student and band member who attends the school. A longtime friend of Catie’s family, Esteban agreed to the girl’s request.

“We’re extremely excited and appreciative of Esteban’s generosity,” said Matt McKagan, school band director. “Although this concert will attract his L.A. fans, I hope to see a lot of local students and their families. All proceeds are going directly to our program.”

Esteban’s latest album, “Best of Esteban,” debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard charts. A self-taught guitarist, he later was mentored by Andres Segovia. Esteban has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, People magazine and on “The Today Show.”

Esteban’s guitar sales division has brought thousands of affordable, quality guitars to people through the Home Shopping Network.
