Nature hikes in January

Mountains Restoration Trust will sponsor these hikes in January.

The Cold Creek Docents will lead a first Saturday walk in the Cold Creek Valley Preserve from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sat., Jan. 6. Hikers meet at the Lower Stunt High Trailhead, one mile from Mulholland Highway.

The second Saturday walk in Cold Creek will be 9 a.m. to noon Jan. 13 and needs reservations. Meet at the preserve’s lower gate, 1.2 miles up Stunt Road from Mulholland Highway. There will be a walk Sun., Jan. 14 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meet at the lower gate.

The California Native Plant Society will lead a three-mile walk from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thurs., Jan. 25. Bring water and lunch. Meet at Lower Stunt Trailhead.

A sunset/moonlight walk along Topanga Skyline Ridge Trail will start at 3:30 p.m. Sun., Jan. 28. Meet at the top of Stunt Road, four miles from Mulholland Highway. Bring supper and a treat to share.
