Young Life pitches in to help build Habitat for Humanity
Volunteers donate labor, funds

BUILDING COMMUNITY—Volunteers from Young Life join forces with Habitat for Humanity to help with construction on affordable homes in Oxnard recently. The faith-based youth group spent the day hauling, shoveling and pounding, a modern-day barn raising for those less fortunate. For information about Young Life, visit www.younglife.org.
The local chapter of Young Life partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County by providing a day of service at its building site in Oxnard last month.

Young Life, a faith-based youth organization, named the event Fall Serve-A-Thon 2006,

a combination service project and fundraiser to support the group’s programs for youth in Malibu, Agoura, Calabasas and Pacific Palisades, and the local work of Habitat for Humanity.

In addition to committing to a full day of labor, participants found sponsors to pledge financial support for their work.

More than 40 youths, parents and friends pounded nails, shoveled dirt and hauled materials at the worksite.
