Animal shelter kicks off fundraiser

The Agoura Animal Shelter has begun a fundraiser for Malibu Pet Companions, a nonprofit medical fund that benefits the shelter animals.

Two bins have been set up outside the shelter at 29525 Agoura Road to collect old printer cartridges and cell phones.

“Through this program not only are we helping the environment but we are raising money for medical care for our homeless pets,” said Robin Kahrs, animal shelter volunteer.

People who wish to help can drop off their donation at the shelter any time of the day or night.

The shelter invites local businesses to participate as well. Interested donors can send an e-mail to athenesan@aol.com or call Kahrs on her cell at (818) 4216155.

The collection drive will continue into January.
