Scholarship fund created
      The Agoura/Oak Park/Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce lost a friend when its former executive director, a person who worked without pay, died this fall. I appreciate all of the kind cards and phone calls. I would also like to thank everyone who showed their support of the Chamber during the past year.

Letter defended regarding teachers
      I am amazed by the reaction to my letter in the Nov. 23 Acorn regarding complaining teachers. Talk about hitting a raw nerve. There have been about a dozen published responses to my comments, all but two of which were highly critical. Fair enough, as it was my intention to be provocative. But these respondents, in defending themselves, only prove and fortify my point of view.

Divisive council
      Government at its best or government at its worst? Our system of government worked precisely the way it was designed by our founders. When there is a strong difference of opinion in a tightly contested issue, bringing that question to the people of the community to decide the issue is government working at its best, just as it was designed to do.
