Mountains Restoration Trust offers walks, cleanup
The Mountains Restoration Trust will sponsor the following activities in January. For more information, call the number provided.
La Sierra Canyon Habitat Restoration, 9 a.m. to noon, Sun., Jan. 7 at La Sierra Preserve. Do native plantings, removed invasive plant species and restore habitat. Bring water, hat, gloves and sunscreen. Wear sturdy shoes and work clothes. Tools are provided. Reservations are requested by calling Jo Kitz at (818) 591-1701, ext. 203.
First Saturday Walk with Cold Creek docents, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., Jan. 6 at Cold Creek Canyon Preserve. Meet at Lower Stunt High Trailhead. Follow a streamside trail through oak woodlands to basin of nooks and crannies where craggy sandstone peaks loom above.
Second Saturday Walk is Jan. 13, 9 a.m. to noon at Cold Creek Canyon Preserve. Meet at lower gate to preserve. It’s a leisurely interpretive 2-mile walk. RSVP (818) 591-1701. Also, Sunday Cold Creek docent walk from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 14 at the same location.
