Teacher wars
      Recently a couple of people have written letters to The Acorn insulting our teachers. All we have to do is examine their rant a little closer to see that they are disgusted only with themselves. Individuals who are not at peace with themselves find it easier to attack others than to face their own failures.

      For three decades teachers have conned and coddled school boards, parents and voters into providing exactly what they are now whining about. The teachers got what they wanted, both for themselves and their students, but they are still complaining, and their students are lagging further and further behind the rest of the Western World.

Charity check
      Last year at this time, The Acorn ran an article about an Agoura-based couple who created a nonprofit organization called Charity Checks. They sell Giving Certificates in various denominations that are valid for nearly 1 million U.S. charities recognized as IRS nonprofit groups.

Remember pets this holiday
      We know how super busy you are during this holiday season, but in all the rushing about, you may forget gifts for some very special friends. All the cats, kittens, dogs, puppies and bunnies at the Agoura Hills Animal Shelter have hung wish cards on their very own Christmas tree right outside the dog kennel.

      I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for the generous donations from our community partners. Because of your generosity, the Oak View High School Turkey Walk for Needy Families was able to donate more than $1,700 to the Santa Comes to Agoura project.
