      Blood donations traditionally decline during the holiday season, raising concerns for the local blood supply, according to United Blood Services Central Coast. Each day, about 270 units of blood products are needed to maintain an adequate supply for those needing blood. During Thanksgiving week, daily blood donations averaged just 189 units.
