Calabasas High first to apply for state grants
      Calabasas High School doesn't want to take any chances. When the state budget afforded a onetime opportunity to obtain direct school site funding, Calabasas High School Principal Dave Jackson jumped at the prospect of extra funds.

Practice the SAT at Agoura High School
      High school students graduating in 2008 can take a practice SAT test which includes the new essay from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sat., Dec. 16 at Agoura High School, Room A1, 28545 West Driver Ave., Agoura Hills. The cost is $20, which will benefit the school's PFC.

Soccer camp coming to Oak Park
      Zoran's Winter Soccer Camp will offer two four-day sessions of instruction at the Oak View High School soccer field, 5801 E. Conifer St., Oak Park. The first session is Dec. 26 to 29, and the second is Jan. 2 to 5. Session begins at 9 a.m. Fullday sessions end at 3 p.m., and half-day sessions end at noon.

CLU offers new doctorate program
      The School of Education at California Lutheran University recently announced a new degree program, the Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership. This program is designed to serve educational professionals who have a desire to become more effective in leading institutions of higher education and who wish to position themselves for heightened leadership roles.

Middle school mock trial team goes the distance
      Several area middle school students learned the fine art of arguing a legal case in a real courtroom during the Constitutional Rights Foundation's annual mock trial competition. The Sierra Canyon Middle School mock trial team went all the way to the semifinals, competing against 31 other middle school teams from public and private schools from all over Los Angeles County.
