Teacher salaries spark debate
I'd like to add my two cents and comment about Ken Grow's Nov. 23 letter regarding "whiny teachers." When I was a teacher, I heard many comments like Mr. Grow's. Yeah, yeah, teachers get "all these vacations." But summer school positions are not available to most teachers, and short term positions during vacation times do not pay professional-level wages. Would Mr.

Underappreciated
After working seven hours at school on one of my main "holidays" last Wednesday, I read Ken Grow's comments in The Acorn sharing his opinions about teachers and the ease of my profession. I'm all for freedom of the press and feel that everyone is most definitely entitled to their own opinion, but I'm not convinced that Mr.

Give teachers more credit

Because of her hard work and dedication, the Chamber grew from 150 members to more than 1,500 during her tenure.

Worried about new mayor
We've had a few issues through the years but none as divisive as Measure Z. For full disclosure, I voted yes, but I'm not going to revisit the decision here. I bring that up because I am going to ask Councilman Jim Bruno to withdraw from consideration to be the next mayor of Westlake Village. I don't say this because he was supporting the no position.

Abusing the environment
The midterm elections are over. The carnage of the illegitimate war in Iraq with its "mission accomplished" proudly announced on national television on May 1, 2003, still continues its chaotic march into madness. George W. is still the despot leader of our nation.
