Community Foundation announces new trustees

The Community Foundation for Oak Park has appointed Oak Park residents Mary Pallant and David Solo to serve as foundation trustees.

Pallant is on the Ventura County Commission for Women and has served in a variety of volunteer positions.

Solo is executive director of the Foundation for Camp Max Straus and was formerly an executive with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

"These two outstanding community members will be significant assets to our foundation board, and we look forward to working with them," said foundation President David Ross.

The current foundation board includes Ross; Eva Larson, vice president; Diane Milavetz, treasurer; Harvey Kern, secretary, and trustees Karen Onifer, Risa Littman, Sherwin Samuels, Todd Haines (representing the Oak Park Municipal Advisory Council) and Jerry Kaman (representing Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District).

The Community Foundation for Oak Park was founded in 1979 and supports volunteer efforts in the community as well as raising funds for community programs and projects. More than half the foundation's funds are spent in support of students in the Oak Park Unified School District.

The foundation also holds regular election forums. Further information about the foundation is available on its website, www.oakparkfoundation.org.

The foundation is a taxexempt charity, and gladly accepts donations in support of projects in the community.
