Hotline

The Los Angeles County Domestic Violence Hotline, (800) 978-3600, is open 24 hours a day. Professionals who answer calls will inform victims about available services and assist them in finding temporary shelter.

Los Angeles County funds 24 emergency shelters, which are open to victims and their children, and transportation to the shelters, with law enforcement backup, is available.

Counseling services are offered at the shelters, and referrals for legal, medical, financial, employment and child care assistance are also available. There are also children's programs and, to help victimized families get a new start, many shelters offer assistance with food, clothing and household items.

For information or resources, call the Los Angeles County Violence Council Resource/Information line at (888) 994-7575.
