Thank LVUSD classified employees

To the members of the community, management and teachers of the Las Virgenes Unified School District: When was the last time you thanked the employee who puts a bandage on a child's injury and wipes away their tears, answers the daily phone questions, cleans the classrooms, empties the trash, mows the fields, sets up the bleachers, registers new students, sends out report cards, sets up a room for the PFC, helps with enrichment programs, keeps a watchful eyes at recess and lunch, prepares and serves lunch, works one-on-one with the special needs students, checks teaching credentials, processes textbooks, assists the principals, helps high school students avoid parking lot accidents, works safety patrol, teaches elementary PE, arts and music, processes payroll, or the hundreds of other jobs it takes to help maintain the high standards afforded students of the Las Virgenes Unified School District?

There are more than 500 classified employees assisting in the education of the students of LVUSD. Last year when a "budget error" showed lack of funds for an equitable raise in line all other employees, the classified, continued serving the students with excellence, pride and dedication.

I urge the board of education, management, parents, The Acorn, the PFCs, the community and teachers to take time to thank a classified employee. I am proud to represent this awesome and remarkable group of people. You absolutely deserve to be valued, respected and compensated for all you do. Without classified employees, LVUSD could not and would not function. Thank you for all you do. Penny Ellis Co-president Las Virgenes Classified Association
