CLU Choir to tour California and Arizona

The 40voice choir of California Lutheran University, directed by Wyant Morton, will present a series of concerts during its annual tour, a tradition that began in the choir's first year.

This year's tour will travel through Southern California and Arizona with five concerts planned from Dec. 15 through 19.

Founded in 1961 by C. Robert Zimmerman, the CLU Choir is the premier chorale ensemble at the university. It has earned a reputation in its home state and throughout the western United States for its commitment to performing the finest in choral literature.

While dedicated to performing works that represent

CLU's Lutheran heritage, the choir also sings new compositions as well as music that expresses a multicultural perspective.

Morton joined the CLU faculty in 1992 as director of choral activities, becoming the fourth conductor in the 45year history of the choir. Morton also conducts all the choral ensembles in the music department and supervises the voice faculty.

Morton earned his master of music and doctor of musical arts degrees from the University of Arizona in Tucson.
