Winners chosen for recycling coloring contest

Thirteen winners have been chosen from 255 entries in the 2006 recycling coloring contest sponsored by the city of Calabasas. The winning pictures were chosen based on creativity and theme.

The drawings will be printed in the 2007 city of Calabasas Community Recycling Awareness Calendar, and each artist will receive a $25 gift certificate during the Dec. 5 environmental commission meeting.

Whitney Levin, a fifthgrader at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran School, was the grand place winner. His drawing will be printed on the calendar cover.

The other winners are listed by their schools:

Chaparral Elementary School: Megan Nison, fourth grade White Oak Elementary

School: Abigail Tsai, third grade; Samantha Tsai, fourth grade

Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran School: Arezu Maghsoudi, third grade; Kelly Collins, fifth grade; and Ashley Knaack, fifth grade

St. Augustine School: Minerva Solis, sixth grade

A.E. Wright Middle School: Jennifer Contreras, eighth grade; Reshmae Mohammed, eighth grade.

Lupin Hill Elementary School: Tiffany Ducharme, fourth grade.

Yerba Buena Elementary School: Amanda Beatrice Lopez, third grade.

Woodland Elementary School: Rachel Murciano, first grade.
