Labys will be honored Dec. 3

Sandra and Jordan Laby are recipients of the Ventura Mayor's Arts Awards and will be honored at a fundraiser for the Ventura Music Festival on Sun., Dec. 3 at Crowne Plaza Hotel, 450 Harbor Blvd., Ventura. Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be served at 5 p.m., and dinner at 6 p.m.

The Labys serve on the boards of many arts organizations in Ventura County. They founded the San Buenaventura Foundation for the Arts in 1999 and have been involved in beginning local venues such as the Rubicon Theatre Company, Ventura Music Festival and the New West Symphony. They serve on the boards of many other local events including the Ojai Music Festival, Ventura County Ballet, and Ventura College Opera and Musical Theater. They are also involved with the Arts Village that will be constructed in Ventura's downtown cultural district.
