Westlake needs more sidewalks

Westlake Village is an idyllic city that offers a little bit of everything. The people who live here chose this location very carefully for its range of services, its schools and safety. But there is one thing missing. Where are all the sidewalks?

In a community that prides itself on caring about the environment and maintaining a first-class profile, we don't have the option to walk to most city destinations. Try walking from Lindero Canyon to Thousand Oaks Boulevard or Via Colinas. Or to the library.

The sidewalks stop or don't exist at all.

With the onslaught of tens of thousands of weekly car trips in our village, how can pedestrians and bike riders feel safe?

It's time to build out sidewalks on all our major streets. This should have been part of the grand design from the outset. We will have more freedom to get around and maybe we'll meet a neighbor or two. Valerie Herman-Rodriguez Westlake Village
