Triunfo YMCA names 2006 Volunteer of the Year
Kenny Simpson Kenny Simpson is the Triunfo YMCA's 2006 Volunteer of the Year, executive director Ronnie Stone announced.
The YMCA serves Westlake Village, Agoura Hills and Oak Park.
The 27yearold Simpson began his YMCA experience as a summer camp counselor in 1996. In the ensuing summers, Simpson worked his way from counselor to assistant director to camp director.
In 2001, Simpson went to work part time at the Triunfo YMCA's main office while attending UCLA.
"It was immediately apparent to us that Kenny could help improve the quality of the YMCA and its programs," Stone said.
Simpson is now a project manager for Cobalt Construction, but still volunteers as lead advisor for the YMCA's Youth and Government, a popular program that teaches high school students about government through regularly monthly meetings and state conferences.
"Kenny is a cornerstone of this YMCA," Stone said. "He has been an integral part of many success stories at the Y."
