A smooch for pooch

The position of State Attorney General is one of the most important of our statewide offices up for election this year-second only, in fact, to that of the governor. The Attorney General serves as California's chief law enforcement officer.

Senator Chuck Poochigian is the candidate best equipped to handle this significant responsibility. Poochigian is a talented and experienced lawmaker who has devoted much of his 12-year tenure in the state Legislature to protecting our communities against crime.

Poochigian strongly supports the state's death penalty, "three strikes," and victims' rights laws. He has successfully sponsored legislation to enact stiffer penalties against identity theft, sexual predators, gang violence and criminal recidivism. He has also promoted laws to bolster crime prevention programs, DNA technology and workers' compensation reform. Poochigian's opponent, Jerry Brown, has a long track record of opposing these and similar toughon-crime measures.

In sum, Chuck Poochigian is a trustworthy and industrious public servant who will bring honesty, integrity and dignity to the office of Attorney General. Please join me in voting for him on Nov. 7. James Bozajian Calabasas mayor pro tem
