Jewish law class will begin soon The Conejo Jewish Academy will teach the course "You Be the Judge" Wednesday evenings at 8 p.m. starting Nov. 8. Rabbi Moshe Bryski will be the instructor and there is a $65 course fee that includes all materials. The class is open to students of all backgrounds and will examine actual cases that were presented to a beit din (Jewish court of law). Students will be provided with the Talmudic primary sources that are key to helping reach a verdict. Students will then debate and discuss the case as they attempt, through the aid of the instructor, to reach a conclusionComparisons between the American secular law and Jewish law will be made so that students can discover where the two systems share common views and where they differ. Students need no prior knowledge of Talmud or formal legal training. Source texts from the Talmud and the analyses of Jewish legalists through the ages will be provided.
