Scouts to collect food donations

Local troops and packs will demonstrate the scouting spirit by participating in the upcoming Scouting for Food drive. Every Cub Scout pack, Boy Scout troop, Varsity team, Venturing crew and Explorer post will collect food donations for local food banks served by the Salvation Army.

Scouts will distribute grocery bag door hangers throughout local neighborhoods early in the morning of Sat, Nov. 4. The bags will have instructions describing the acceptable types of food and packaging.

Residents are asked to fill the bags with food and leave them on the front doorstep early on Sat., Nov. 11 for the scouts to pick up. Collections will begin around 9 a..m.

Nearly 4 million scouts around the country will collect bags of food for community food banks.
