Resident named governor of women pilots organization

The Ventura County Ninety-Nines announced the appointment of Martha Phillips of Newbury Park as the 2006-07 Southwest section governor of the Ninety-Nines, International Organization of Women Pilots. A private pilot since 1987, Phillips has been an active member of the Ventura County chapter of the Ninety-Nines since 1995, serving as secretary and chapter chairman. Through her efforts as membership chairman she helped to increase the number of members in the chapter.

Last year, Phillips served as treasurer on the board of directors of the Southwest section of the Ninety-Nines.

In her new position Phillips will represent the states of California, Arizona, Utah, Nevada and Hawaii in promoting world fellowship through flight, providing networking and scholarship opportunities for women and the aviation

community, and preserving the unique history of women in aviation.
