2006 campus violence

Aug. 24-Aman shot two teachers, killing one and wounding another at Essex Elementary School in Vermont.

Sept. 13-A 25-year-old man killed an 18-year-old woman and wounded more than a dozen students and faculty members before killing himself at a college in Montreal.

Sept. 26-In Bailey, Colo., a man held six students hostage at Platte Canyon High School. He shot himself to death after killing a 16-year-old girl.

Sept. 29-A 15yearold student shot and killed the Weston School principal in Cazenovia, Wisc.

Oct. 3-A 32-year-old man gunned down 10 schoolgirls in the one-room, West Nickel Mines Amish School in Nickel Mines, Penn. Five of the girls died; their attacker killed himself.
