Society to sell African violets

African violets and other plants will be shown and sold at the Thousand Oaks African Violet Society's annual show from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sat., Oct. 28 and 1 to 4 p.m. Sun., Oct. 29 at the Grant Brimhall/Thousand Oaks Library, 1400 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks.

The event is free. Supplies will also be available for purchase. Plants on display and for sale will be in all sizes.

Studies show that African violets are the most popular houseplant in America. Hybrid versions have taken the original purple plants to every imaginable color and size.

For those who want to know more about African violets, the local group meets the first Thursday of every month from 7 to 9 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 667 Camino dos Rios in the annex of the church. For details, call (805) 495-0218.
