Committee needs members

The Calabasas City Council is looking to fill two alternate positions on its 20-person General Plan Advisory Committee.

The committee will begin meeting monthly in January 2007 in order to review the development of the city's new general plan and development code, which will address issues such as air quality, land use, housing and open space.

"The General Plan Advisory Committee, for lack of better terms, is the steering committee for everything," said Geoff Starns, a Calabasas senior planner. "They will review and refine the work plan for the whole process, they'll be conducting community workshops, reporting to council, reviewing drafts and plans and they will eventually be making a formal recommendation to the council."

Calabasas residents interested in joining the committee can print an application from www.cityofcalabasas.com under the Commissions tab. There is also a link to the application on the main page. Two members will be appointed in early December.

For more information, call Starns at (818) 878-4225.
