Agoura high senior earns scholarship
Emiko Flanagan, a senior at Agoura High School, was awarded first place and a $5,000 scholarship in the high school division of the inaugural Richard Carpenter Scholarship competition
More than 100 applicants dem- onstrated dance, instrumental and vocal talents at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza in September. From these contestants, four final- ists each in three divisions-high school, college and non-student- then performed before an audience and a panel of judges that included musician Herb Alpert.
Emiko has studied dance at California Dance Theatre for 12 years with Kim Maselli, Stanley Holden, Laura Klein Weiner and Alisan Porter. She has also taught at the school for two years.
She will attend summer pro- grams at Boston Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet and State Street Ballet to further her studies.
