Future depends on school bond Please join me in support of Proposition H6. I have lived in Oak Park for 29 years. I moved here just as the Oak Park Unified School District was formed. All three of my children graduated from Oak Park High. I have seen the district expand and the com- munity completion become a re- ality. I am a senior citizen now, but support of the school district is still important to me. I want our schools to be as award-winning structur- ally as they are educationally. The need for the best teachers and ma- terial must be met. I am treasurer of the Commu- nity Foundation for Oak Park. In a presentation to our board of di- rectors, I heard the school admin- istrators explain how they have pared down the list of facility and equipment needs so that the fund- ing amount in Proposition H6 is the minimum necessary to meet the district needs, now and in the fu- ture. The district officials also pointed out that taxes would not increase as a result of H6. The bond repayment will be extended for 20 years at the 2006 rate. The foundation supports H6 based on the discussion at that meeting. The quality of education in Oak Park has become a point of pride to our residents. Home buyers come to our community because of the fine learning environment our schools offer. Diane Milavetz Oak Park |
