Doesn't like park Will someone please tell me who decided to put a playground at Gates Park (Thousand Oaks Boulevard above Parkmor) that is masquerading as a McDonald's? In a greenbelt park up in the natu- ral hillside beauty we used to be able to enjoy here in Calabasas, "they" have put a monstrosity of a play- ground in bright red and yellow (didn't I say McDonald's?) com- plete with some tent-like stuff (also school bus yellow) hanging over all of the equipment. Please bleeding hearts, don't write back that it was done for the physically challenged kids. I doubt they required that it look like a three-ring circus. When so many build natural looking (there's a guy that sells such equipment off the 101 in Calabasas) playsets of natural (or even made to look like natural wood) products, who decided that this eyesore would be better? I think I recall Barry Groveman, our Kodak moment-ad- dicted council member, involved at some point. This is not a rhetorical question. I seriously mean for someone to stand up and take "credit" for this visual assault on our beautiful neigh- borhood. Nancy Goldsen Calabasas |
