Against Lowe's

We are opposed to a Lowe's in Westlake Village. This big box warehouse sitting right next to the 101 Freeway and the entrance to our city does not fit the image of Westlake Village. Besides, we al- ready have three similar busi- nesses within a 10-mile radius.

We have lived in Westlake Canyon Oaks, north of the 101, for over 20 years and have seen the traffic get worse and worse as big retail development such as Costco occurred. And the new Dole Four Seasons complex and Marriott haven't even opened yet. If office buildings were built on the site instead of Lowe's, most of the occupants would be doing a reverse commute to those of us who live north of the freeway and wouldn't even be around on weekends when Lowe's will at- tract more traffic.

When improvements were made to Lindero Canyon Road, a new right turn lane was added from Via Colinas onto Lindero Canyon. In our opinion, it was a big mistake not to make that right turn lane continue onto the Ven- tura west freeway ramp. This forces all cars driving south on Lindero Canyon who want to ac- cess the 101 in either direction to compete for the same lane for a short but dangerous distance. Add to this the annoying habit of two or more cars running the red light in each of the left turn lanes at Via Colinas on a regular basis. The traffic generated by a Lowe's will make Lindero Canyon a night- mare.

For those in Westlake Village who live south of the 101, please consider your fellow residents and join us in voting no on Z. Elizabeth and Phil Saide Westlake Village
