Event supports fight against childhood obesity IO Design, the new design center in Westlake Village, will kick off Design Celebration 2006 with a two-day event on Fri. and Sat., Oct. 20 and 21. The Ameri- can Heart Association, Ventura County Division is co-sponsor. The event will begin with a private, invitation-only reception in the showroom from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Oct. 20. There will be silent and live auctions, hosted wine bar, catered hors d'oeuvres and enter- tainment. Local health profes- sionals and cardiac survivors will be present to discuss the impor- tance of a heart-healthy lifestyle. Activities on Saturday are open to the public at no charge. "Jump Rope for Heart" demon- strations with students from local schools will be in the showroom from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Staff from the American Heart Associa- tion will answer questions about fitness and childhood obesity. IO Design will donate all pro- ceeds form the auctions and 2 per- cent of its proceeds through the end of the year to AHA's child- hood obesity and youth market initiatives. With the launch of its 15,000- square-foot interior design center, IO Design will be the only full- service luxury interior design and architectural remodeling firm in the region, specializing in a broad range of services from design to general contracting. The IO De- sign team travels the world, se- lecting exquisite pieces including stone, ceramics, wood, paintings and fabrics. The design center joins Old World classics with contemporary beauty, including many imported treasures from around the world.
