Bonzai exhibition is coming

The Conejo Valley Bon- sai Society will hold its fourth annual Bonsai Exhi- bition and Demonstration from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sat. and Sun., Oct. 14 and 15 at the Gardens of the World, 2001 Thousand Oaks Blvd. in Thousand Oaks.

The exhibition will be at the Gardens resource cen- ter and will display works produced by society mem- bers.

The demonstrations will be in the band stand and, among other things, mem- bers will transform a nurs- ery tree into the beginnings of a bonsai. Techniques for examining the raw tree and determining which branches or limbs to keep or remove and the new shape to which it will be trained will be explained. Demonstrations will take place twice each day, at 11 a.m. and at 2 p.m.

Bonsai Society mem- bers will be on hand to share information on their activities and on creating living works of art. The public is welcome.
