Reyes Adobe seeks docents

The city of Agoura Hills is looking for individuals to serve as volunteer docents at the his- toric Reyes Adobe Historical Site in Agoura Hills. Docents conduct guided tours of the adobe and its garden and barn/ museum, and present a short his- tory of the Reyes family and the creation of the adobe home.

Normal public hours for the adobe are the second Tuesday of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the second Saturday of the month from 1 to 4 p.m. Docents also lead group tours by ap- pointment.

The 156-year-old adobe is adjacent to Reyes Adobe Park, near the intersection of Reyes Adobe Road and Rainbow Crest.

Docents receive annual rec- ognition from the city of Agoura Hills, and are also given the op- portunity to join field trips to other historic sites in the area. Educational programs are pre- sented at the Adobe regularly, and Reyes Adobe Days, a com- munity-wide festival, is con- ducted each October.

Volunteers may call Amy Brink, director of community services at the Agoura Hills Recreation Center, at (818) 597- 7361, or come by the Agoura Hills Recreation Center at 30610 Thousand Oaks Blvd. in Agoura Hills.
