Deplores Islamic 'barbarism'

I would like to applaud the pope for having the courage to state the obvious at his own peril. I wish our politicians had the integrity to do the same.

In a recent Acorn article, an Inman from the Islamic Center of Reseda trivialized the kidnapping of two Israelis and ignored the murder of eight others.

I would like to express my opinion in saying that Islam stands alone in the world as the single greatest source of violence on the planet and that there is no comparison in any other of the world's religions in its systemic nature.

Even if one condemns the policies of the Bush administration outright, one must admit that these policies rightly or wrongly are in direct response to Islamic barbarism.

For the last half century Muslims have been hijacking and blowing up airplanes, kidnapping and murdering athletes at the Olympics, cutting reporters' heads off, pushing cripples off ships in wheelchairs, burning embassies in response to cartoons, torching churches, killing each other for being of different sects and now so resent the suggestion that they are prone to violence that they threaten to murder the pope who suggested it.

Our lust for political correctness has allowed the establishment of mosques throughout North America that spread the same venom daily as that which led to Theo Van Gough having his throat slashed on a city street in Holland and Salmon Rushdie spending his life in hiding.

Love live Pope Benedict for speaking the truth. Larry Brown Agoura Hills
