ng applications for the Miss Reyes Adobe Days Pageant scheduled for Sat., Sept. 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 at Agoura Hills Recreation Center, 30610 Thousand Oaks Blvd., Agoura Hills. Pageant judging begins at 1 p.m. The public is invited o attend; admission is $2. Girls ages 4 to 17 are invited o compete to reign as Miss Reyes Adobe Days during the three-day festival, Oct. 13, 14 and 15. The categories are Littlest Miss (4 to 7 years), Pre-teen Miss (8 to 12 years), Teen Miss (13 to 15 years), and Miss (16 to 17 years). The pageant is open to residents of Agoura Hills and qualifying students from the Las Virgenes Unified School District. Contestants will be interviewed on stage and judged by representatives of the second annual Reyes Adobe Days. The winners will ride in the Reyes Adobe Days morning parade on Oct. 14 and will also receive a crown and flowers, gift certificates and a modeling scholarship from John Robert Powers in Agoura Hills. Applications may be obtained at the Agoura Hills Recreation Center. Entry deadline is Wed., Sept. 27. An entry fee of $30 is required at the time of application submission. Reyes Adobe Days celebrates the city's rich heritage. The festival kicks off Friday with a senior luncheon fiesta at the Reyes Adobe Historical Site and Hay Fever teen dance for grades six to eight in the evening at the Agoura Hills Recreation Center. On Sat., Oct. 14, a pre-parade extravaganza, "Bonanza on the Boulevard," at Thousand Oaks Boulevard and Forest Cove Lane, will begin at 8:30 a.m. with Tim Gavin's pro skateboarding team, an appearance by Sponge Bob, attractions for children and teens, and coffee for adults. The Reyes Adobe Days Parade takes to the street at 10 a.m. with Grand Marshal Jenilee Harrison who starred in television's "Three's Company." The parade leads to the main event, "A Day at the Adobe," at the Reyes Adobe Historical Site with California music and dance, children's games, pony rides, blacksmithing, rancho cooking, adobe brick making and tours of the early-1800s period home and barn until 4 p.m. The celebration continues on Sun., Oct. 15 with a RAD 5K Race and Family Fun Run at 8 a.m. and community pancake breakfast followed by a race awards presentation. Also at 8 a.m., a gymkhana will be held at Old Agoura Equestrian Center with contests, prizes and a barbecue. A block party will start at noon in Chumash Park, 5550 Medea Valley Drive, featuring rides and attractions for all ages, including a bungee Acro-flight, extreme obstacle course, and food will be available from vendors. The event concludes with Latin jazz musician Poncho Sanchez playing at 4 p.m. "Agoura Hills is hosting a three-day seasonal celebration with loads of traditional family fun for all ages. We hope everyone will come and experience the best of California past and present," said Nick Newkirk, community services coordinator for the city of Agoura Hills.
