VIP comments

Thank you for the July 20 article regarding Oak Park reaction to the increased cost of the yet-to-be-implemented Volunteers in Policing program offered by Thousand Oaks. We are still bewildered here in Oak Park as to why a projected cost for VIP of $28,000 was suddenly increased to $45,000 by our neighboring city of Thousand Oaks, especially since numerous residents of Oak Park volunteer their time to serve in the Thousand Oaks VIP program.

One correction to the story is regarding the schedule of the VIP program to be utilized in Oak Park. It was stated in the article the patrol service requested "one patrol car, staffed by two volunteers, for three nights per week." The patrol service requested is for one patrol car manned by two volunteers completing a four-hour shift three days per week, time frame yet to be decided.
