Candidate wants water review

It is time to bring financial sanity and good governance to Triunfo Sanitation District and that is why I am running for a seat on the board this November. Over the years, Triunfo has placed over half of our $12 million in reserves in a risky bond fund and spent $2 million to prepare for the development of Ahmanson Ranch, which then never happened.

Now we find out in August that the Triunfo board conducted so little oversight of its investments managed by the Ventura Regional Sanitation District that board members were surprised to find that from $800,000 to $3 million in TDS funds were in a noninterest bearing account for two and a half years.

So what kind of impact does that have on rate payers? TSD just raised sewer rates 10 percent this July, from $480 to $528 per year. This shows up on property tax bills. Now there is talk at board meetings of raising the water rates for Oak Park Water which Triunfo owns. Already, water bills in Oak Park are some of the highest in the county.
