As the new school year begins, a plan for the forth annual end-ofschool year luncheon honoring Simi Valley's crossing guards is well underway.

"We got a late start last year," said realtors Laurie Allen and Eileen Richardson of Rodeo Realty in Simi Valley. "But with the help of the community, somehow we got it done!"

Allen and Richardson collected gift certificates from local merchants to give to the guards at the year-end party.

"We really had a great turn out, many merchants such as Maverick's Restaurant, Hudson's Grill, Senr Gomez and Red's Barbeque have contributed since the start," said Richardson. "However, it's great to have new restaurants such as Cronies Sports Grill and Jersey Mike's Subs step up to the plate."
