Take a closer look

Your reader, Ms. Nagy, seems to be misguided about her desire to have "more dining options, closer shops and the convenience of a home improvement store nearby." Is 10 minutes to Home Depot not "nearby" enough?

If she were to think this out rationally, she would realize that Lowe's is not about providing Westlake residents with "more dining options, closer shops," but a 227,500-square-foot retail behemoth and an initiative that literally bars city council from any control in the design, signage, removal of trees, store hours and delivery hours.

In other words, put simply, vote for Lowe's and you give them complete control. Does M. Nagy really support this just for her "convenience?"

To remedy her desire of "more dining options," she will have plenty of new choices with the Four Seasons and Marriott.

I urge Westlake Village residents to take a good, hard look at what Lowe's wants to do in our community. Does it really make sense to give away all control to a big box for the sake of "convenience?" Jeri Edwards Westlake Village
