Pump up conservation

I for one am glad that some in Congress and the Senate have the foresight to stop the oil companies from drilling in the last of America's wild lands and oceans and the nuclear industries from running amuck.

Why would the American people and future generations give up our wilderness so that the oil companies can reap excess profits while we the American people get stuck with the clean up cost?

What will become of the radioactive waste the nuclear power plants generate-waste that takes thousands of years to decompose? Taxpayers will pay the price of the clean up.

We need more fuel efficient cars, practice conservation and invest in alternative energies like ethanol, solar and wind.

I believe a country that created the nuclear bomb, put men on the moon and sent space crafts to Mars could put more resources toward energy independence. Mike McBride Agoura Hills
