Suicide victim was targeted Moreinformation has come to light about Robert Kramer, 57, the man who committed suicide at the Agoura Hills Target Range on Aug. 18. Kramer reportedly was under investigation for numerous crimes, from writing bad checks and identity theft to carrying loaded firearms and threatening bodily harm to his landlord, whose name was not released but who was identified as the person who launched the investigation. Don McCann, co-owner of Sunset Protective Services and Investigations in Thousand Oaks, said Kramer had been under investigation since April. Kramer, who committed suicide with a 22-caliber pistol at the gun range, allegedly stole $500,000 from numerous victims through identify theft, fraudulent checks and other scams. McCann, a retired police officer who handles private investigations throughout the Conejo Valley, said he had arrested Kramer for possessing two illegal firearms and driving a repossessed MercedesBenz. The citizen's arrest resulted in Kramer being taken into custody by local authorities. Kramer was a former Calabasas and Westlake Village resident who had moved to Sherman Oaks. He was out on bail when he returned to Agoura Hills last month and killed himself. "I'm only doing this for the victims," McCann said. Between 15 and 20 people and businesses were allegedly victimized by Kramer, McCann said. Some of the victims-including many single women-are "ruined for life," McCann said. Kramer allegedly went by several aliases, including Avi Kramer and others. |
