CLASSICAL MUSIC-Soprano Nan Kohler, accompanied by pianist Frank Garvey, performs for a rapt audience at the Church of the Epiphany in Oak Park, completing the inaugural season of musical performances hosted by the church. The Music Guild at The Church of the Epiphany (Episcopal) in Oak Park celebrated the completion of its debut season, which featured recitals and concerts with professional guest musicians and musical evening services.

The Aug. 26 celebration, attended by founding supporters of the Epiphany Music Guild, included an intimate musical presentation as well as a sneak peak of the upcoming 2006-2007 recital season.

Nan Kohler, soprano, was accompanied by pianist Frank Garvey on songs and arias by Bernstein, Mozart, Puccini and Weill.

The recital was preceded by a reception during which guests mingled with the performers.

Free recitals during the past season at the church included performances by various professional soloists and ensembles, including the Tonoi Ensemble, the Definiens Project, the Elixir Trio, mezzo-soprano Tracy Van Fleet and pianist Marina Grozdanovic.

The Music Guild welcomes the public to attend the concerts. The first event of the upcoming season will be Sun., Nov. 5, featuring a recital of 20th century chamber works by the Tonoi Ensemble.

The Church of the Epiphany is at 5450 Churchwood Drive in Oak Park.
