Wires and trees don't mix

I am appalled and saddened by the destruction of long standing pine trees and protected sycamore trees that has occured along Potrero Road in Westlake Village.

These mature trees are being cut down to make room for the electrical wires that are not even supposed to be there. Those wires were supposed to be grounded, like all of the other wires in Westlake Village, but were sneakily put up "in the middle of the night" decades ago.

The wires along Potrero Road are the only wires that are not grounded in Westlake Village. They hover very close to Westlake Elementary as well as the homes of Foxmoor.

The numerous wires are a potential health hazard to our children and many families. (There are several studies indicating this.) They are also an eyesore to everyone driving along that beautiful stretch of Potrero Road leading to Lake Sherwood.

This letter is a plea to cease and desist the cutting down of our only buffer (the trees) from the traffic along Potrero. This is also a plea to the city council to consider grounding these electrical wires as soon as possible. Dai Fryer Westlake Village
