Spotlight the Arts fall event at Sagebrush

Spotlight the Arts, a nonprofit organization trying to raise funds and awareness for the construction of a new community theater in Calabasas, will host a family barn dance and barbecue from 5 to 11 p.m. Sat., Sept. 16 at Leonis Adobe Museum, 23537 Calabasas Road in Old Town Calabasas.

Admission is $15 children under 12, $45 for students ages 12 and over as well as senior adults,

and $75 for general adult admission. For tickets and more information, call (818) 725-2978.

Music will be provided by Riders of the Purple Sage, a top country western group noted for their hit "Ghost Riders in the Sky." Rattlin' Ralph, the Tunesmith of the Old West, will lead a family sing-along.

Sagebrush Cantina's master chef Joey Bell will prepare a chuck wagon barbecue, followed by Western dance lessons by Kathy Bailey.

Docents will lead tours of the historic museum that features period furnishings. Television personality Stephanie Edwards will serve as the event's emcee.

All proceeds will support Spotlight the Arts, a nonprofit community-based group whose mission is to build a performing arts center at the Calabasas Civic Center.
