Chinese display at library

A mini-exhibit of "The Voyages of Zheng He, 15th Century Chinese Admiral" is on display at the Agoura Hills Library, 29901 Ladyface Court, Agoura Hills, through Nov. 15.

The exhibit celebrates the 600th anniversary of Chinese treasure fleets that carried silks and porcelains to exchange for goods from countries that they visited throughout Southeast Asia, India and eastern Africa.

The maps of their route and the narrative on Chinese 15th century navigational techniques, ship building and trade goods are a condensed version of the exhibit originally displayed at the Ventura County Maritime Museum titled "When China Rules the Seas: the Ming Treasure Fleets, 1405-1433."

The library is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Wednesday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. For more information, call (818) 889-2278.
