Equestrian fun day coming soon

The members of Corral 36 of Equestrian Trails Inc., a not-forprofit organization, and Malibu Valley Farms are sponsoring a Play Day of games and camaraderie for riders and their horses on Sat., Oct. 14 beginning at 8 a.m. at Malibu Valley Farms, 2200 Stokes Canyon Road in Calabasas (corner of Stokes Canyon Road and Mulholland Highway). Trailer parking is available along Stokes Canyon Road.

Riders of all abilities and disciplines can participate in various games such as run, ride and lead, egg and spoon, musical stalls, slalom race and cloverleaf barrel race. Participants can ride a buck bareback for $1. Cash prizes will be awarded.

Other events include obstacle course, cross rails jumping for time, bobbing for apples, lead line for ages 5 and under, walk/trot for ages 7 and under, and lead line for adults, including novice or non-riding.

Zanos Pizza Kitchen of Woodland Hills will be selling sandwiches, salad and cookies. Water and drinks will also be available for purchase.

Age divisions are 10 and under, 11 to 13, and 14 and over. Helmets and proper riding boots are required for all participants. Equines of any type may be entered with several different riders.

The entry fee is $4.50 per class. Riders without an ETI membership card will be charged an additional one-day membership fee of $7 per person or $15 for a family. Stallions and dogs will not be permitted on the grounds.
