Refuting the former mayor

Regarding the letter by Kris Carraway-Bowman of Aug.17, Ms. Carraway-Bowman gives her message an accomplished spin.

She states opponents of Lowe's are using "scare tactics." That just isn't so. The truth is not a scare tactic.

Ms. Carraway-Bowman's clarification turns out to be disinformation: Who is going to stand watch over the 108 conditions? And who will watch the watchers? City hall will lose control in a blink through inertia, if not through threats of legal action. Westlake Village doesn't need big boxes, smog, traffic, loiterers, increased police presence (per the sheriff) or payola to our village.

And, if we can hold off the developers until April 2008, when the present plans lapse, we can have a real town center, a real community gathering place or even a hospital. Please join me in opposing the big box and the big lie on Nov. 7. Michael Edelstein Westlake Village
