Disarm the Hezbollah, not the Israelis

In response to a letter by Patricia Ahmad, the Middle East has been unstable long before there was a state of Israel. More Muslims have been killed by other Muslims than have been killed by the Israel defense forces. Was the Iran vs. Iraq war caused by Israel? Sunnis and Shiites are killing each other by the hundreds every day in Iraq. This war is the direct result of Hezbollah terrorists crossing over an internationally-recognized border, killing and kidnapping Israeli soldiers.

Israel is the size of New Jersey and is surrounded by 22 Arab countries. Many of these countries indoctrinate their children at a very young age to hate Jews, Israel and the West. Israel wants to live in peace. They are not interested in conquering land or occupying territory. If Hezbollah disarmed today, the war would be over. If Israel disarmed today, Israel would be destroyed.

Islamic fundamentalists would not stop there. Europe and the United States would be next. They are not interested in negotiating. The Islamic fundamentalists want the same thing that Hitler wanted- to kill anyone who is not like them. Don Gruberger Thousand Oaks
