Small business awards given

Pacific Coast Business Times and the Los Angeles District Office, U.S. Small Business Administration, will present the "Spirit of Small Business" awards luncheon on Fri., Aug. 18 at Fess Parker's Doubletree Resort, 633 E. Cabrillo Blvd., Santa Barbara. Tickets are $55.

Keynote speaker is California Secretary of Business, Housing, Transportation Sunne McPeak.

The small business advocate winner is Ventura County Economic Development Association.

Other award recipients are: East Ventura County: Plug Nickel, West Ventura County: Performance Group, South Santa Barbara County: Brand New Industries, North Santa Barbara County: Valley Auto Service/Big O Tires, Minorityowned business: J. Hernandez & Company, Woman-owned business: Irene Henry, State Farm Insurance, Veteran-owned business: Steve Thomas BMW.

The emerging small business award will go to Emily's Eggs, Santa Paula.
