Troop's Adopt'-A-School' Golf Tourney Raises $105,000 For East County Schools

East Ventura County public school children will have a step up on technology tools when the new school year begins thanks again to Troop Real Estate Inc.'s recent sixth annual "Adopt-A-School" golf tournament which raised a record $105,000 for area schools, said Gregg Bruno, tournament chairman.

Nearly 150 golfers participated in Troop's charity golf tourney at Lost Canyons Golf Club in Simi Valley. The event has now raised more than $400,000 for area schools.

Bruno said the proceeds from the tourney go directly toward technology education by providing computers, printers, DVDs and related equipment for the classroom. He added that monies will also help fund software and various supplies to bolster existing technology in classrooms that the school district does not have enough funds to maintain. He said more than $500,000 in grant requests were received this year from area educators upon which the "Adopt-ASchool" proceeds are evaluated and distributed. A special reception is being planned by Troop at which time grant awardees will receive funds from company President Brian Troop. "With schools struggling today to secure adequate equipment, particularly in the technology area, the Troop family is proud to take a leadership role in advancing that need," said Bruno of Troop's Simi/ Wood Ranch office. He added the "Adopt-ASchool" program reflects a long-standing corporate philosophy established by Troop emphasizing the importance of giving back to the community, particularly its youth.

During the event, which included a banquet dinner and live auction following the golf tournament, Troop saluted Bruno and Donna O'Leary, founder of the "Adopt-A-School" tournament, for "helping countless children" in local schools with more technology. "The beauty of this program is that proceeds go directly to kids in the classroom, and their teachers," said Troop.

He saluted more than 20 sponsors who helped make the golf tournament possible.
